The idea for this collection came about during November, 2018 when I presented a sound piece called 'The Universe Inside'. During December of that year I expanded in into 'Universe Inside | Universe Outside' for a performance in Fountain Hills, Arizona.
The Universe Inside was based around the human body and all the life forms and organisms that live within us and call us 'home'. Current research suggests that only 43% of our bodies are made up of human cells. Medical opinion is now discovering that the health of these organisms are essential to our own health. If they are killed off or out of balance then disease can occur. The universe that lives inside each of us is totally unique to each individual person. Some Eastern disciplines have throughout time viewed the human body as a small universe.
The 'Universe Outside' is based on this enormous system of which we are an infinitesimally tiny part. In fact our human brains have a hard time even comprehending the size of this 13.8 billion years old cosmos - containing all space and time and it's contents. Currently we are only able to view a very small part of it - the 'observable universe'. Our galaxy (the Milky Way containing 100-400 billion stars) is one of at least 2 trillion galaxies in the area of the universe we can currently view. What is beyond that we simply do not know.
Current theory suggests that fabric of the universe is constantly expanding. It is estimated that our galaxy (including our planet) travels at the speed of 1.3 million miles every hour! Whatever it's size we often think of ourselves as being separate from it - viewing the universe as something 'out there.' The truth is that we are all part of the universe - much like the organisms living within us are part of who we are.
Much of this work features solfeggio frequencies.
Thanks to all at Sound Art Arizona. Many thanks also to Heather and Michael and those who were present in the Fountain Hills performance during December, 2018.
